By default, This PC, which previously was known as My Computer is not placed on your desktop on Windows 8-8.1-10. By placing it on your desktop or by creating a desktop shortcut, it will make it easier for you to access the File Explorer and access your Drives and documents by just double-clicking on it.

This tutorial will show you how to create “This PC” shortcut on your desktop on Windows 8-8.1-10.

  1. Right-click an empty space on your desktop.

 

  1. For Windows 10, click Personalize, select Theme and go to Desktop icon settings, the desktop icon settings windows will pop up.

For Windows 8 or 8.1, click Personalize and then click on Change Desktop icon on your left.

  1. Mark or check “Computer” option under Desktop icon and click OK below.

 

This PC icon will be created on the desktop. You will see that this method hides the Shortcut symbol too.
